EPL stats: Which clubs made the most blocks in 2022-23 Premier League season?

The Premier League clubs have started preparations for the upcoming season. While some players have returned for pre-season training, the others are set to join their teammates soon. Most of the clubs are also busily engaged in the summer transfer window, hoping to sign players that will help them improve on last season’s position on the table. With not long left before the start of the new campaign, let us look at some of the interesting facts from last season.

Which club made the most blocks?

The team at the top of this table is Everton. The relegation-battling side had a below-par season, as they were fighting for most parts for the campaign to stay in the division. They also had a managerial change and were struggling to match their previous heights. In the end, Everton just about survived to extend their stay in the English top flight for another season. Overall, Everton made 180 blocks during the 2022-23 Premier League season.

Second in the list is Wolverhampton Wanderers with 175 blocks. They had a roller-coaster of a campaign last time out. After flirting with relegation at the early stages of the season, Wolves did well to not only push out of the bottom three places but they did well to steer clear of it. Bournemouth and Leicester City wrapped up third spot with 170 blocks each. Bournemouth also had an unpredictable campaign but they eventually stayed away from the relegation zone.

However, the same cannot be said for Leicester, who were sadly relegated from the division. It was a massive surprise to see the Foxes getting demoted to the second tier. Among the clubs that got relegated, Leicester had the most quality in their squad. Not long ago they had won a Premier League title and were fighting for Champions League places. However, things did not go according to plan last time, as Leicester got relegated.

Manchester United have a place in the list too

Manchester United are placed ninth in the list with 146 blocks. Erik ten Hag did an excellent job in his first season with the club, as the Red Devils finished a surprising third and also won a trophy in the form of an EFL Cup. The good number of blocks were evident of United’s solid defence.
