Europa League stats: Who are the top scorers in 2022-23 season?

The Europa League competition came to a dramatic conclusion on Wednesday night with Sevilla once again winning the trophy. There was very little to separate the two sides as the match went down the wire. In a game of two halves, Roma took the lead in the first half through Paulo Dybala but the Spaniards got a lucky equaliser through an own goal in the second period. With nothing much to separate them, the game headed to extra time and penalties. In the shootout, Sevilla comfortably won 4-1 to lift the coveted trophy.

With the competition done and dusted, it is time to look back at some of the eye-catching numbers from the season. There is no better place to start than from the players who top the goalscoring charts. Some interesting names have a place in this list. It is not only made from the teams that reached the final of the competition but also include the ones who were eliminated from earlier knockout rounds.

Who are the top scorers in 2022-23 Europa League season?

There are two players at the top of this table. Victor Boniface from Belgian side Union SG and Manchester United’s in-form striker Marcus Rashford both have six goals each. Both their teams were eliminated from earlier knockout rounds. However, no player from other teams that went till the final were able to match or overtake their records. Boniface took 10 games to score six goals, something Rashford managed in just nine matches.

Marcus Rashford has had an exceptional season with Manchester United this time around. He has almost single-handedly carried the goalscoring burden for the Red Devils this campaign and has played a huge part in the club’s positive season. Man United have already won a trophy – EFL Cup – and are in the final of another, FA Cup. Besides, they finished third in the Premier League. In Europa League, they were beaten by Sevilla in the quarter-final stage.
