Early Career of Jakob Ingebrigtsen
Ingebrigtsen took the entire world by surprise when he established himself at the junior level in 2017. At 16, Ingebrigtsen became the youngest athlete in history to run the one-mile distance in less than 4 minutes. Eventually, Ingebrigtsen finished at the 11th place in the Diamond League race in Eugene. Subsequently, he ran almost two seconds faster, winning the race at 3:56.29 at the Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway.
In the same year, Ingebrigtsen attempted an audacious record when he chased down the European Under-20 record in the 3000-metre steeplechase. Running at the Guldensporenmeeting in Kortrijk, Belgium, Ingebrigsten bettered the previous record with a time of 8:26.81.
