EPL stats: Which clubs have registered the most through balls in 2022-23 Premier League season?

The 2022-23 Premier League season is done and dusted, as all the attention has shifted to the new campaign. In order to prepare for the upcoming season, the clubs are currently focussed on the ongoing transfer window to strengthen their squads. Some sides are involved in massive overhauls, while others are only looking to fill certain gaps in the team. With just a month away from the season beginning, it will be interesting to see how teams tackle this current transfer window.

However, it is important to take a look at some of the important stats from last season first. There were several surprises on store around the table, as plenty of unexpected finishes across the standings were witnessed by supporters. The battle for Europe was breathtaking and same was the case in the relegation fight. It was no different at the top of the standings, with Arsenal leading the table for so long before collapsing at the right time of the season to allow Man City to overtake them.

It is not a surprise to see the Red Devils at the top of this list. United are known for their quick counter-attacking ability, which involves plenty of through balls being used to break down opponents’ defence. Overall, Man United have registered 105 through balls during the course of the last league season.

Second in the list is Liverpool with 103 through ball during the same time frame in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp’s side are also known to move the ball quickly from back to front whenever they had the possession. Their style of play also involves a lot of through balls being used to get the job done. Meanwhile, champions Manchester City are third in the table with 94 through balls in the league last campaign.

Newcastle United, Arsenal not far behind

Newcastle United and Arsenal, two sides that finished in Champions League places, are not far behind in this table. Newcastle have managed 88 through balls, while the Gunners registered 86 of them. Both had plenty of positives to take from last campaign.
