Kiran George is an Indian badminton player who trains at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy and is an exciting young prospect at the international level. George gained the eyes of international media for the first time when he won a hard-fought title the Polish International title. Subsequently, he competed in the 2020 Thomas Cup and 2022 Badminton Asia Team Championships. Earlier, Kiran won the Ghana International in 2019. He also reached the semis of the Welsh International but lost to Siril Verma. But one of the major disappointments for George was his failure to convert a promising run at the 2021 Orleans Masters. Even though Kiran was in great form; the Indian lost in the third round to Brice Leverdez.

This included the India Open which he lost the first round. India Open was followed by the Syed Modi International where again he received the same results. However, he kept up his hard work and diligence which finally reaped positive results at the Odisha Open. He won the title beating compatriot Priyanshu Rajawat to win his first ever BWF World Tour title. Later, he competed at the 2022 Badminton Asia Team Championships but was eliminated in the group stage. First, he lost to Korean Kim Joo Wan, then he lost to Hong Kong’s Chan Yin Chak and finally to Indonesia’s Ikhsan Rumbay.

Currently, in the 2023 season, Kiran won his second BWF World Tour title at the Indonesia Masters Super 100 where he defeated Japanese shuttler Koo Takahashi. Kiran is one of the many rising talents in Indian badminton alongside players like Lakshya Sen & Mithun Manjunath. However, so far this youngster has found relative success. Nevertheless, the next season can be his and with important tournaments like the Paris Olympics around the corner; it will be a great opportunity for the youngster to etch his mark.
