Swiftly moving past local matches, he found himself in the national spotlight. At the 2016 European U17s Singles, Nhat emerged victorious. Having never faced his fellow competitors, he relied on his conviction. His earlier win at the Irish Nationals and strong performances against seasoned players fueled his confidence. Nhat Nguyen has become a standout young talent in European badminton, and his performance at the Welsh International proved he’s a player everyone should watch. In a dominating display, he took home the men’s singles crown. On the competition’s last day, which was Saturday, European players were in fine form, clinching three wins and stepping up to the winner’s platform four times in total.

The 17-year-old Irish sensation, ranked seventh, showed that his position didn’t fully reflect his abilities. He defeated India’s Karan Rajan Rajarajan, who was the third seed, in the quarterfinals. In an edge-of-the-seat finale, Nguyen overpowered India’s seasoned player R M V Gurusaidutt, who boasts past victories including the India Open and a Commonwealth Games silver, with scores of 21-16, 23-21.

Nguyen also staged an epic comeback to win the title at the AIG FZ Forza Irish Open. He claimed victory in the men’s singles at the National Indoor Arena, which is part of the Sport Ireland Campus. Nguyen took the lead with a 21-13 win in the first game. Although he fell behind when Lanier took an 18-13 lead in the second game, Nguyen made an incredible rebound after winning a crucial rally. Debut

At the Polish International, Nhat Nguyen, aged 17, alongside Paul Reynolds, clinched his maiden senior international victory in men’s doubles. The Irish pair triumphed over Germany’s second-seeded duo, Daniel Benz and Andreas Heinz, with scores of 21-19, 25-23 to secure the championship.
