Who is Anmol Kharb’s parents? Know everything about his mother and father

Anmol Kharb, a young and talented Indian badminton player, clinched the crucial match to help the Indian women’s team win their first-ever Badminton Asia Team Championships with a close 3-2 win against Thailand on Sunday. At just 17 years old, Anmol, who comes from Faridabad near Delhi, played with confidence and skill, beating Pornpicha Choeikeewong in straight sets of 21-14, 21-9 in the last singles match.

Often compared to her hero, Saina Nehwal, Anmol is praised for her bold and smart gameplay, as well as her quick footwork. At 16, she was India’s national champion in women’s singles, and just a year later, she was key in securing gold for India at the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships in Malaysia.

Anmol Kharb stands out not just for her game skills and strength but also for her incredibly strong mindset. In Malaysia, she saved India three times, beating players who were ranked higher and had more experience, including in the crucial final match. In her first major international tournament, Anmol faced off against China’s Wu Luo Yu.

Ranked 472 to Wu’s 149, many didn’t expect Anmol to win. Nevertheless, she surprised everyone with a victory in three sets: 22-20, 14-21, 21-18. Even after trailing in the first set and being tied in the third, Anmol didn’t give up and won the match. Though India would have advanced even if Anmol had lost, her victory over China set a winning mood for the team for the rest of the tournament.

Achievements

In the climactic match of the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships, Anmol, the current national champion, defeated the 45th, 29th, and 149th-ranked players in the world. Making her debut in a major senior event, Anmol, ranked 472nd, shocked everyone by beating the 45th-ranked Choeikeewong with scores of 21-14 and 21-9, clinching the victory for her home country.

Playing the pivotal match for the third time in the tournament, Anmol turned around an early 3-6 setback to narrowly lead 11-10 at the interval. Her skill in calmly building up points and scoring eventually gave her a 17-13 lead.

The Indian player kept her opponent on the move with well-placed shots, earning six points for the game, and then secured the win when Pornpicha hit the net. Anmol maintained her momentum in the second game, quickly going from 6-5 to 11-5. A streak of smashing shots brought Anmol close to victory. She reached match point after another well-aimed shot grazed the net, and it was soon game over as her opponent’s return went out of bounds.

Debut
