World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024 day 2: Results and standout performance

The World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024 kicked off in Glasgow, Scotland, on March 13th. The event has attracted over 650 sportspeople from more than 130 countries. They are set to compete in 13 events for men and 13 for women, making a total of 26 events. Two Indian athletes have also joined the 19th edition of these championships after meeting their event’s qualifying requirements.

The competition began on March 1st with an exciting roster of athletes vying for the top spot. This is the first significant athletics competition in the run-up to the Olympic Games. On the opening day, Christian Coleman from the USA dashed to victory in the 60-meter sprint, claiming the gold and setting the fastest time globally this year, surpassing Olympic champion Noah Lyles. In the men’s shot put, Ryan Crouser from the United States took home his first gold medal at these championships.

The second day featured finals like the 400 meters, the 60-meter hurdles, and the women’s 60 meters. Netherlands’ Femke Bol won the 400 meters in a remarkable 49.17 seconds, setting a new world record indoors. For the men, Grant Holloway from the USA dominated the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 7.29 seconds, which set a new record for the championships.
