Anish Bhanwala is a young and talented shooter from Haryana who currently competes in the 25 m rapid pistol, 25 m pistol and 25 m standard pistol. Bhanwala developed an inkling towards shooting since the days when he began participating for the first time in modern pentathlon events. Another interesting story is that Anish took up shooting after getting inspired by his present coach DSP Harpreet Singh. Anish was inspired by Singh when the latter won 02 gold medals and a silver Medal in the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games. However, his proper shooting journey only began when he won two gold, two silver and one bronze medals at the ISSF Junior World Championships in 2017. Subsequently, in the 2017 Commonwealth Shooting Championships, in Australia, he won silver in the 25m Rapid Fire Men. This was Anish’s first senior international competition as a member of the Indian squad. However, the main achievement was when he stunned the world as a young 18-year-old shooter at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. To top it up he won back-to-back medals at the ISSF Junior World Cups 2018 and 2019.

With so many accolades and medals at the back of his junior campaign, Anish made his senior debut at the ISSF World Cup 2019, New Delhi. Subsequently, he shot India’s new National Record score of 588/600 in the qualification round and secured the 5th rank in the Finals. In the 65th National Shooting Championship, he bettered his own record to set a new National record score of 590/600. Moreover, at the ISSF World Cup, Cairo held recently, he won an individual bronze. But the happiest news for Anish is that he has earned a ticket to Paris after winning two bronze medals in the Asian Shooting Championship.
