Indian shuttler Tanya Hemanth emerged victorious in the women’s singles at the 31st Iran Fajr International Challenge held in Tehran on Sunday, February 5. Despite her success, her father couldn’t witness her play at the event because local regulations prevent men from attending women’s sports matches. Tanya clinched the title after outplaying Tasnim Mir of Iran with scores of 21-7 and 21-11 in the showdown.

She overpowered the defending champion and favorite, Tasnim Mir, an Indian colleague and just 17 years old. From the beginning, Tanya took the lead with a significant gap, and she didn’t let up. She won the first game convincingly with a scoreline reading 21-7. Maintaining her momentum, Tanya wrapped up the match by securing the second game with an impressive 21-11. Her overall performance was exceptional, marking a significant win in her career.

Since 2017, Tanya has been competing internationally and notched her first win at the 2018 Dubai Junior International Series. In 2019, she grabbed a silver in the Cyprus Junior and a bronze in both the singles and doubles events in Dubai.
