Asian Games 2022: Men’s 50 m rifle 3 positions team wins India’s seventh gold

India’s shooting contingent continues to shine at the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou. As a result, India secured yet another gold medal. This time it was the men’s 50 m rifle men’s 3 position event. The Indian team of Swapnil Kusal, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Akhil Sheoran delivered a stellar performance to take the gold medal. This victory added to the total tally of 18 medals for India. Therefore, the Indian team also climbed the. Currently, India is just behind the hosts China, who are with 23 medals at the top.

What happened in the match?

The unprecedented success of Indian marksmen continued in the 50m rifle arena. The men’s team comprises the young trio of Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar (591), Swapnil Kusale (591) and Akhil Sheoran (587). It was a cruising victory for the Indian shooters. Subsequently, the men’s team also created a world record. Cumulatively, the trio amassed a whopping 1769 points. Out of this Aishwary and Swapnil scored 591 points. While Akhil Sheoran also chipped in with a handy contribution of 587 points. Subsequently, the men’s trio smashed the world record by a comprehensive eight points.

India was closely followed by the hosts China. However, China was trailing by a huge point difference and did not dent the gold medal prospect of India. China was clear of six points adrift with 1763 points. While the bronze went to the South Korean contingent.
