WWE RAW Results: Main Event Jey Uso part of the red brand, GUNTHER retains

WWE RAW results: Saturday’s Payback pay-per-view was jam-packed with excitement, but that’s in the past. It’s now time to start planning for the Fastlane event on October 7. This week’s program dealt with the aftermath of Payback, but we also saw some feuds that were not featured on the PPV continue. Gunther is on the verge of surpassing The Honky Tonk Man’s record for the longest-reigning Intercontinental champion, but Chad Gable was trying to stop him. In a Tornado Tag bout, The Viking Raiders faced Matt Riddle and Drew McIntyre. Let’s go over everything that occurred on this week’s WWE Raw.

WWE RAW Match card

  • The Viking Raiders vs Drew McIntyre and Matt Riddle
  • Ricochet vs Shinsuke Nakamura
  • Shayna Baszler vs Zoey Stark
  • Raquel Rodriguez vs Chelsea Green
  • JD McDonagh vs Sami Zayn
  • Gunther vs Chad Gable

Jey Uso started the WWE RAW. Following a recap video of the events of Payback, Jey Uso entered the ring to a standing ovation. Sami Zayn entered the ring after briefly discussing being on his own. He warned Jey that a lot of people in the locker room probably don’t want to see him on Raw, but he also gave him a pep boost. They hugged it out to a cheer from the audience.

They passed McIntyre and Riddle on their way to the ring as they left the ringside section. Both guys paused and expressed their affection for Jey before proceeding to the ring to confront Erik and Ivar.

The Viking Raiders vs Drew McIntyre and Matt Riddle

The first match did not begin until almost 25 minutes into the event. In a Tornado Tag match, the Raiders faced Riddle and McIntyre, which meant all four men were legal at the same time.

Even though it took a while for the action to begin, this match featured a lot of intensity and several entertaining moments. Tables were even requested by the crowd. The timing was a little wrong at times, but most of what we got here was engaging enough to keep the audience engaged.

Kofi Kingston dashed to the ring to help Riddle and McIntyre, but he ended up becoming their undoing. He struck Riddle with his finisher by accident, allowing Erik and Ivar to put him through a table to get the win.

Winner: The Viking Raiders

Ricochet vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Despite the fact that doctors have not cleared him for action following Payback, Seth Rollins walked to the ring for a promo and called out Nakamura to finish what they began. Nakamura entered the ring and chatted in Japanese until Rollins inquired if they were going to have a match. Shin just stated, “No.” Rollins was not pleased with that response and pursued him down the aisle. Officials were called in to break up the brawl.

This bout resumed after the intermission, with Ricochet making his entrance during the commercial. Nakamura attempted to exit the ring, but Ricochet drew him back in and began unleashing some fast-paced attacks.

This was a fun and competitive battle that pitted Ricochet against the man who had recently headlined a PPV. Nakamura ended up disqualifying himself by using a chair as a weapon. Rollins charged into the ring to assault him, but Nakamura prevailed. Ricochet chased him away with a chair, as Damian Priest was shown backstage pondering a cash-in.

Winner: Ricochet by DQ

Before the commercial break, Judgment Day made its way to the ring. The entire stable was carrying their championships, including Priest’s MITB briefcase.

Everything appeared to be well, but Priest became enraged when Balor thanked JD McDonagh for his assistance. JD eventually emerged, carrying something in a bag. He gave Priest a new purple MITB briefcase.

Zayn appeared on the stage and taunted them for requiring five guys to win the tag belts from him and Kevin Owens. He challenged Dom to a battle, but JD refused and stated he would fight him instead.

Shayna Baszler vs Zoey Stark

After a brief backstage encounter, Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark resolved to compete to discover who was the larger badass. They began with a rapid exchange in which both ladies scored early knockdowns before Stark put Baslzer in a headlock. The MMA expert swiftly countered out of the grip. After a hard effort to break free, Stark was defeated by the Kirifuda Clutch, giving Baszler the victory.

Winner: Shayna Baszler

Raquel Rodriguez vs Chelsea Green

Rodriguez and Green met for a singles match when it was found that Piper Niven is not medically cleared to participate right now. Green attempted to carry on as normal, but Rodriguez was not in the mood for games. She began womanhandling Green and hurling her about the ring. Rodriguez smashed Green’s block before landing her famous powerbomb for the victory.

Winner: Raquel Rodriguez

On Miz TV, The Miz joined John Cena as a guest to discuss what transpired at Payback. They staged a scene in which Cena appeared in the ring but we couldn’t see him. The following bout on the program was Zayn vs. McDonagh, which had been booked earlier in the evening.

JD McDonagh vs Sami Zayn

The first half of this bout was very straightforward until McDonagh grabbed control by banging Zayn’s head against the announce desk and ring post. The second half was much more interesting, and it provided Zayn a chance to regain control. McDonagh grabbed the win with a rollup and a handful of tights when Dom tried to intervene and was put out. Zayn attacked Dom and beat him hard until McDonagh intervened. Dom left him to face the pounding as Zayn attacked him with a Helluva Kick.

Winner: JD McDonagh

Gunther vs Chad Gable

WWE promoted the main event throughout the night as a significant match in the history of the IC championship. Gunther wanted to break a record, and Gable wanted to stop him. Gunther began by slamming the smaller challenger to the mat to demonstrate his authority, but the former Olympic athlete is never scared by a bigger opponent.

They had plenty of time toward the conclusion of the concert, so they took their time and made it feel like a marathon, not a sprint. The connection between these two has been remarkable throughout their rivalry. Every interaction has been better than the previous one. Gunther pinned Gable clean after a massive powerbomb and a clothesline, while his children cried in the front row.

Winner: GUNTHER
