CM Punk supports Cody Rhodes amidst WrestleMania plans amidst injury setback

CM Punk offered support to Cody Rhodes, advising him to stick to his long-standing WrestleMania plans during an emotional encounter on Monday’s Raw.

The backstage moment, captured before Rhodes’ segment with Seth Rollins and after Punk’s opening angle with Drew McIntyre, showed Punk telling Rhodes to “Finish your story, bro,” followed by a hug. WWE shared the footage on various social media platforms, maximizing the moment ahead of Rhodes’ appearance on SmackDown and Punk’s recovery from a torn tricep.

Punk sustained the injury in his first televised match since returning to the company during the main event of Saturday’s Royal Rumble Premium Live Event. Originally slated to face World Heavyweight Champion Rollins at WrestleMania, Punk’s injury led Rollins to challenge Rhodes for ‘The Show Of Shows’ instead of a potential showdown with Roman Reigns.

Acknowledging his four to six-month recovery period on Raw, Punk stated that WrestleMania is “not in the cards.” Despite his earlier aspirations to headline the event during his initial stint with the company and recent promos post-Survivor Series return, Punk will have to put those plans on hold due to his injury.
