LA Knight journey: From Struggles to success in wrestling

As the anticipation builds for WWE Payback 2023, where LA Knight is set to face off against The Miz in a singles match, the talented wrestler recently opened up about his tumultuous journey in the world of professional wrestling. In an interview with Interstate 70 Sports Media, Knight shared insights into the challenges he faced on his path to success.

LA Knight revealed that the early years of his wrestling career were marked by financial struggles. He stated, “There was never a point where I seriously thought, ‘I should go do something else.’ But there was a point where I thought ‘I’m gonna have to go do something else.'” During his 20s, Knight faced financial hardships, working various service and odd jobs just to make ends meet while pursuing his wrestling dream.

Despite the discouragement from some quarters advising him to consider wrestling as a hobby, Knight remained resolute, saying, “No, no, no, that’s not for me.” His unwavering determination kept him pushing forward.

LA Knight’s fortunes started to change as he entered his 30s. He began earning a steady income from wrestling, starting with NXT and subsequently making his mark in Impact and NWA. His persistence paid off, and he started receiving substantial paychecks, indicating that his wrestling career was on the right track.

A crucial decision by LA Knight

Knight had an opportunity to return to WWE in 2016, but the offer came with a pay cut compared to what he was earning in Impact at the time. He chose to continue with Impact for a few more years before considering the WWE offer. By then, he was in his late 30s, but his relatively injury-free history and overall physical condition led him to believe that he operated more like a 30-year-old in the wrestling business.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, LA Knight found himself pondering his next steps, fearing that his age might work against him. However, he decided to make one last attempt to gauge WWE’s interest. Surprisingly, he received a window of opportunity and seized it with determination. This bold move ultimately brought him back to WWE, a move he didn’t initially believe was possible.

As LA Knight prepares for his clash with The Miz at WWE Payback 2023, his journey serves as a testament to the resilience and tenacity required to succeed in the world of professional wrestling. His unwavering commitment to his passion and his ability to seize opportunities has propelled him to where he is today.
