In a turn of events, WWE superstar Becky Lynch found herself unable to join her fellow wrestlers on the flight to India for a special live event. The reason behind her absence? A minor tear in her passport. The former women’s champion had to remain in the United States, and she took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her regrets and apologize to her fans.
WWE’s much-anticipated return to India, the first since 2017, was set to take place in Hyderabad, Telangana, with the “Superstar Spectacle” event scheduled for Friday. The main attraction of the evening was none other than John Cena, making his debut wrestling appearance in India. He was teaming up with Seth Rollins, who happens to be Becky Lynch’s husband, in a match against Imperium.
Few matches announced for WWE Superstar Spectacle
While only a few matches were publicly announced for the event, including Rhea Ripley vs Natalya for the Women’s World Championship and Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn against Indus Sher, Becky Lynch’s role remained uncertain.
Becky Lynch reached out to a fan who had been eagerly anticipating her live appearance at the event and apologized for her absence.
In the United States, Becky Lynch is gearing up for a showdown with Tiffany Stratton, scheduled for next week, where she will vie for the NXT Women’s Championship, a title that has thus far eluded her grasp.
Friday’s “Superstar Spectacle” marks the second edition of the event, with the 2021 edition being recorded at the WWE Thunderdome in January 2021 and broadcast exclusively in India.
