Ace Steel fired by AEW for the second time in 12 months

Ace Steel has been let go by AEW, marking his second departure in just 12 months, as reported by PWInsider’s Mike Johnson. Ace Steel had been fulfilling his role remotely for Tony Khan’s wrestling promotion, starting before the launch of the Collision brand in June. Unfortunately, he was unable to attend in-person television tapings due to his involvement in a post-All Out altercation last year.

Steel’s connection to CM Punk is notable. He’s known as a close friend of the former AEW World Champion. During the brawl involving Punk, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks in September 2022, Steel was in Punk’s locker room. Allegations even surfaced that he had bitten Omega on the arm during the altercation.

Steel faced termination following an investigation by AEW into the incident. However, AEW had a change of heart, bringing him back to work alongside Punk when planning the return of ‘The Voice of the Voiceless’ earlier this year. The catch was that Ace would be working remotely. This decision reportedly caused a two-week delay in Punk’s return announcement while they hammered out the details of Steel’s contract.

Ace Steel future plans

According to reports, there were discussions within the promotion about finding a training and working space in Florida for Ace Steel to collaborate with wrestlers.

In a surprising turn of events, CM Punk was released by AEW just last Saturday, adding another layer of intrigue to the ongoing developments in the wrestling world.

In the words of PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, “Ace Steel has been fired by AEW for the second time in 12 months.” The wrestling world continues to be a place of unpredictability and rapid changes.
