Qatar vs Uzbekistan: Asian Cup 2023/24 Live Stream, Form Guide, Head to Head, Schedule, Fixture and Probable Lineups

Uzbekistan has the opportunity to make it to the Asian Cup semi-finals for the first time since 2011 if they secure a win against hosts Qatar at Al Bayt Stadium on Saturday. In the previous round, Qatar staged a comeback to win 2-1 against Palestine, while the White Wolves advanced by eliminating Thailand with an identical scoreline.

On Tuesday, the Maroons faced their first setback in the tournament but displayed resilience, equalizing against Palestine before securing the winning goal in the final 45 minutes. This marked the first time they conceded in the Asian Cup this year, extending their winning streak to 11 matches. The goal conceded to Palestine was only the second allowed under Tintin Marquez since a 3-0 victory over India in November 2023. Though trailing for less than 15 minutes against Palestine, it was the first time Qatar found themselves behind in the tournament since January 2015. Qatar thrives in close games, winning their last three contests by a single goal. With just one defeat in their last nine matches on Qatari soil, a 2-1 loss to Jordan earlier this year, the Maroons remain formidable.

Uzbekistan’s resilient performance on Tuesday secured their spot in the quarter-finals for the fifth time in their last six Asian Cup appearances. Despite conceding an equalizer just before the hour mark, the Turanians stayed composed and found a winning goal seven minutes later. They have maintained a strong defensive record, conceding one goal or less in six consecutive matches, extending their unbeaten run to 11 games. Since a 3-0 friendly loss to the USA last September, coach Srecko Katanec has witnessed significant improvement in their attacking prowess, with the White Wolves scoring multiple times in eight of their last 11 outings. The team hasn’t lost to an Asian opponent since the Central Asian Football Federation (CAFA) Nations Cup final, where they were defeated 1-0 by Iran. Uzbekistan has a positive record against Qatar, winning their last three encounters without conceding a goal.
