Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal: Will Declan Rice be fit for the crucial Premier League clash?

Arsenal will be hoping to build on their emphatic win from their last game when they travel to Nottingham Forest for an interesting Premier League clash. The Gunners started the 2023-24 season on a positive note but lost their way a bit over the last month, which also saw them lose the top spot in the table. However, Arsenal ended their difficult spell with a convincing 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace in their last league game.

Mikel Arteta will be keen to build on the momentum gained from the comfortable win last time out. However, it will not be easy for Arsenal when they travel to Nottingham Forest for a tricky Premier League fixture. Ahead of the contest, Arteta provided an update on who might be available for this clash, as he largely spoke about Thomas Partey and Declan Rice. “We’ve got some late decisions to make. Thomas won’t be one of those but we have a few that had some issues at the end of the last game and we’re still uncertain with a few players,” Arteta, quoted on Arsenal.com, said.

Will Declan Rice be fit?

Asked if Partey is in the squad, the manager replied, “Thomas is not in the squad, no. It’s what it is. You want everybody available and he’s a top player for us, really important player for us, but at the moment he’s not fit yet.” Shifting the focus to Declan Rice, the manager stated that his involvement in the game will be decided late on. He explained, “He is one of the players, yes. He’s done some work but has missed some work as well. Hopefully he’s going to be okay.”

Arteta also put an end to a rumour that he is set to leave the club in the summer. Asked about it, “Who, me? No, that’s totally fake news. What you read yesterday, I don’t know where it’s coming from. It’s totally untrue and I’m really upset about it.” Speaking about that report, the manager said, “I could not believe it. I don’t know where it’s coming from, it’s got no sources, it’s got nothing and I think we have to be very cautious when we talk about personal things, to put it in the way that it was put yesterday.”

Mikel Arteta on Jurgen Klopp

Recently, the Premier League supporters were left in massive shock after Jurgen Klopp announced that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. It was something not many saw coming, as wishes and praises poured in for Klopp following the commanding job he did at Anfield. Asked about Klopp, Arteta said, “I think he’s made this league much better. First of all the person, the character, the charisma, the way of transmitting his ideas and passion for the game is something special.”

The manager added: “He’s had a big contribution for the growth of this league and I love the way he did it. The emotion that he put in and when you see the human side explaining the reasons behind it and the challenges and everything that is related to our job, I think it was spot on. When someone has done what he’s done for that football club in the league you have to respect that and basically say thank you because I think he made the league better, every manager better and this league much more beautiful and intense.”
