Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur: Will new signings Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin be available to face United?

Tottenham Hotspur have been quite busy in the January transfer window by already making a couple of early signings. The North London outfit has completed the purchase of a striker and defender to help them maintain their momentum from the first half of the campaign. Timo Werner joined Tottenham on loan for the rest of the season from German side RB Leipzig, while Radu Dragusin completed his move from Italian outfit Genoa.

Werner is someone who already has Premier League experience following his spell with Chelsea. However, the German international struggled for form, especially in front of goals, at Stamford Bridge, something which he will hope to rectify in his return to the English top flight. With Tottenham Hotspur set to play Manchester United on Sunday in the league, many supporters wondered whether the new signings would be fit for the contest.

Will Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin be available?

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has informed that the duo will be available for their visit to Old Trafford, as he outlined what to expect from them. “I’m really happy to get both boys in. Timo – I think everyone knows his playing pedigree, obviously inn Germany, in the Premier and then back in the Germany. I have been aware of him for a very long time. I think he is a good fit for us from a playing perspective but also a good guy, a good personality and very motivated to come to Tottenham and play for us,” Postecoglou, quoted on the club’s website, said ahead of the game.

He added: “Radu’s similar. Obviously a position we kind of prioritised. We obviously went into the season a little bit short in (terms of) numbers in that area – we let Davinson Sanchez go after the window. So we kind of knew that, if there was a good opportunity in January, we were going to move. We’ve been looking at him for a while. Johan (Lange) and the lads in there have worked hard to put some options there and quickly identified that Radu would be a great fit for us – I had a good chat to him. Again I think from a football perspective, but also from the environment and culture that we have, he’s going to be a really good fit.”

Postecoglou believes that getting the two new signings early in the window is a good opportunity to integrate them into the squad quickly. “From what I understand, both will be eligible to play (against Manchester United), which is the first thing and, secondly, Radu has been playing up until last week so he is in good condition. And Timo hasn’t played for a little while – obviously they had their winter break (in Germany) but he has been back in training for the last seven to 10 days. So both will be available which is a good thing. After the Manchester United game, we have a couple of weeks until our next one, so getting them in this early helps us bed him in,” he explained.
