La Liga stats: Clubs that have scored the least number of goals in 2022-23 La Liga season

In top level of football, the most difficult thing to do would be to score goals. Teams are often set up with a defence-first mentality, hence many clubs struggle to get the breakthroughs. The higher up the professional chain a team moves, more challenging the task becomes. Although some teams have an attacking game play, they too will have a proper defensive set-up at the back. Hence, there is not a bigger challenge than to break down organised defences to score goals.

Teams that have good quality attacking players manage to do it more frequently than others. Even for them the task becomes extra difficult due to the level at which the game has evolved these days. With almost all the information becoming available about everyone, clubs often head into a game with a proper set up. This makes it even more challenging to put the ball in the back of the net. The difficulty level shoots up even more when teams from lower half of the table face the ones from the top half.

Which clubs have scored the least number of goals in La Liga this season?

The team that has scored the least number of goals in the ongoing Spanish league campaign is unsurprisingly the bottom-placed Elche. They have managed to find the back of the net only 20 times from 31 games in La Liga this season. They have registered only 13 points and look destined to be relegated to the second division. Only two games they have won all season in the league and 22 they have lost already, making it a season to forget for their supporters.

Second in the list is another struggling outfit Cadiz. With only 23 goals being scored all season, it is easy to imagine why they are struggling. Placed just above the relegation zone, sixteenth-placed Cadiz have 32 points from 31 games till now. Third in the table is Real Valladolid. They are sitting couple of places above Cadiz after managing to score 26 times so far this season. It is not a surprise that the teams that are placed at the wrong end of the table are the ones struggling to score regularly.

Which big clubs have a place in the list?

The two notable names from this list are Valencia and Sevilla. Both clubs are going through a difficult campaign and it is easy to understand why. They have been quite poor in the final third of the pitch, which has denied them getting crucial points. Valencia have only scored 32 times from 30 games to be placed in the relegation zone – a big concern for their supporters. Meanwhile, Sevilla are a few places above them in the table after managing 37 goals till now in the league.
