EPL stats: Which clubs have spent the most days on top of Premier League table?

It goes without saying that Premier League is one of the most popular leagues in world football. The reason for its popularity is due to the competitive nature of the games in the division. There are no easy matches in the English top flight, with every club having to produce their 100% effort to get past a side that is either sitting at the top or bottom end of the standings. Despite the difficulty level attached with the division, some clubs manage to thrive in those intense competition. It is those teams that will be analysed in this article.

Which clubs have spent the most days on top?

The team at the top of this list is unsurprisingly Manchester United. The Red Devils have spent 2362 days on top of the Premier League table, according to Opta Analyst. Most of that credit must go to retired former manager Sir Alex Ferguson. It was under his management, Man United were an unstoppable force in the division. They thoroughly dominated the EPL to an extent that even second spot seemed like a failure. However, the club has not been the same since his retirement.

Second spot is occupied by Chelsea. The Blues have topped the Premier League standings for 1590 days. Their dominance started in mid-2000s and it was their former manager Jose Mourinho who helped Chelsea reach unimaginable heights in two separate spells. The Blues have since been a force to be reckoned with in England and all of Europe.

Arsenal wrapped up the third spot by spending 1236 days on top of the Premier League table. The Gunners enjoyed a good amount of success during the Arsene Wenger days. However, it has been a while since they won the league crown. Mikel Arteta is doing his best to help Arsenal get back to the top and they nearly achieved the impossible last season. However, a late collapse allowed Manchester City to leapfrog them and win the league title.
