The 2022-23 Premier League season had it all from entertainment to heartbreaks. There was plenty of goal-mouth action and excellent defending. It had a lot of surprises over the course of the season with quite a few unexpected finishes from top to bottom. The battle for Europe alone was quite intriguing, with some of the big names dropping out of the race, allowing less-fancied sides to grab a European spot.
The relegation battle was equally challenging, with the supporters unable to find out till the last matchday which teams will stay up or go down. The same was the case at the top end of the table, as Arsenal made Manchester City work extremely hard for the title. In the end, Pep Guardiola’s side took advantage of the Gunners slipping up to take the top spot.
Which club has registered the most touches?
The team at the top of this list is unsurprisingly Manchester City. The Premier League champions were almost unstoppable at times and were one of the teams to beat in the 2022-23 season. Even though they were trailing Arsenal for most of the campaign, City never gave up and kept chasing them in second spot. At the business end of the season when the Gunner slipped, Guardiola’s side leapfrogged them to claim the title.
Besides, Guardiola’s teams are known for their attractive style of football, which involves them retaining plenty of the ball. Hence, it is not a surprise to see Man City at the top of this table with 31,032 touches. Second in the list is Liverpool with 29,667 touches. The Reds might have missed out on a Champions League spot but they have still seen a lot of the ball. Chelsea wrapped up top three with 28,611 touches.
Brighton, Arsenal not far behind
The fourth and fifth spots are occupied by Brighton & Hove Albion and Arsenal. Brighton have registered 27,972 touches, while the Gunners have managed 27,221. Both teams performed beyond expectations to have a memorable campaign last time out.
