Andrew Cole – Manchester United 9-0 Ipswich Town; 1995 (5 goals)

It was one of the glittering performances the Premier League has ever seen. Manchester United, under the management of their legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, were at their lethal best that day. United attackers had a field day against a clueless Ipswich Town. One player who made the most of his goalscoring touch that day was Andrew Cole. He scored an astonishing five goals over the course of the game to help the Red Devils cruise to an emphatic victory.

Alan Shearer – Newcastle United 8-0 Sheffield Wednesday; 1999 (5 goals)

Alan Shearer has been one of the gifted strikers in the Premier League era. He has produced several memorable displays and has often been the player to watch out for on the pitch. In September 1999, he came up with a stunning showing to help Newcastle United thump Sheffield Wednesday 8-0. Shearer was unstoppable on the day, as he found the back of the net an astonishing five times over the duration of the match.

Jermain Defoe – Tottenham Hotspur 9-1 Wigan Athletic; 2009 (5 goals)

Tottenham Hotspur lit up the Premier League weekend in November 2009 by producing one of the best attacking performance its supporters have ever seen. Wigan Athletic were the unlucky side to be at the receiving end of such massive bashing. What once looked like a closely-fought encounter, soon ran away from the reach of the visitors. It was largely thanks to one man – Jermain Defoe. The English striker incredibly scored five second half goals to help Spurs register a massive victory.

Dimitar Berbatov – Manchester United 7-1 Blackburn Rovers; 2010 (5 goals)

Manchester United were at their ruthless attacking best on the day against an unfortunate Blackburn Rovers side. The Red Devils were in complete control of the match from start to finish. Despite running away with the game long before the final whistle, Sir Alex’s side never stopped attacking, as they kept going at a disjointed Blackburn team. The beneficiary of such an attacking display was Dimitar Berbatov, who ended up finding the back of the net five times that day.

Sergio Aguero – Manchester City 6-1 Newcastle United; 2015 (5 goals)

Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero was one of the lethal strikers of his generation. He produced several scintillating displays in front of goals. One such occasion was in October 2015. The recipient of his ruthless attacking display was an unfortunate Newcastle United side. Aguero scored five goals over the course of the match to help Man City register an astonishing 6-1 win. It was hard to imagine that Newcastle had actually took the lead that day through Aleksandar Mitrovic in the first half before suffering a massive collapse.
