Normally clubs raise their level after the half-time interval if they are behind or on level terms in the match. The next most number of goals were scored in the 15-minute period before both halves end, meaning the 31-45 and 76-90 minutes time frame. In this period, 58 goals each have been scored. This shows how many clubs push up to either end the half or the match on a high. The middle period in both halves have also seen a good number of goals being scored. The 61-75 period has seen 57 goals, while 16-30 has produced 56 goals.
In fact, a lot of teams have even made a good start to proceedings in the Champions League this season. A total of 41 goals have been scored in the opening 15-minute period. Meanwhile, in the first half injury time, six goals have been scored. On the other hand, the injury time in the second half has produced 19 goals. This shows how clubs push hard towards the end of the match to get a late winner.
No goals in extra time yet
One of the most surprising aspects about the current Champions League season is that there are zero extra time goals till now. The additional 30-minute period will only become available in the second leg of the knockout stage if the scoreline remains tied.
