IPL Stats: Most catches taken by a fielder in the Indian Premier League

There is a famous saying that catches win matches and it has been proven right over the years. The focus is always on batsmen and bowlers in the T20 format, the work done by the fielders is often forgotten. In a game of small margins, fielders tend to play a vital role, be it saving runs, taking catches, or inducing a run-out, their role in the T20 format is very important and over the years the teams who have gone on to win trophies, usually have a very good fielding unit.

A catch is one of the most common modes of dismissal in the T20 format and the fielding position a player is standing in determines how many chances he will potentially have to grab a catch. Generally in the Indian Premier League, teams prefer to put their most reliable fielder at those positions on the boundary line where he is most likely to take a catch. Most of the time it is either the long-on or the long-of position. Let’s have a look at the most catches taken by a fielder in the Indian Premier League.
