Bam Adebayo attended Northside High School in Pinetown, North Carolina, where as a junior, he averaged 32.2 points and 21 rebounds per game. ESPN said that Adebayo was a five-star prospect out of high school. Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Missouri, Kansas, Auburn, and Kentucky were among the colleges who extended him offers. Adebayo finally committed to the University of Kentucky.

Adebayo had only one season with the Kentucky Wildcats. In his Wildcats career, Adebayo averaged 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. He also guided the Wildcats to a 32-6 record.

More importantly, Adebayo helped Kentucky reach the Elite Eight, where they fell to North Carolina 75-73. Adebayo concluded his collegiate basketball career on the SEC All-Freshman Team and Second Team All-SEC.

After just one season with the Kentucky Wildcats, Adebayo chose to renounce his remaining NCAA eligibility and declare for the 2017 NBA Draft. On draft night, the Miami Heat chose Adebayo in the first round with the 14th overall choice.

Adebayo then signed a four-year rookie contract for $14 million with the Heat, according to Spotrac. Adebayo spent his first season on the bench. In his limited minutes, he averaged 6.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

It wasn’t until the 2019-20 season that Adebayo broke out in the NBA. In his third NBA season, the first-round selection averaged 15.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.

Adebayo earned his first All-Star Game berth and was named to the All-Defensive Second Team. He was also runner-up for the Most Improved Player of the Year award.
