What is Sydney McLaughlin’s net worth, salary and brand endorsements (2024)?

American hurdler and sprinter Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who was born on August 7, 1999, excels in the 400-meter hurdles. She is the Olympic champion in 2020 Tokyo, owning the Games record, and the World Champion in 2022, with the current world mark of 50.68 seconds. McLaughlin was the first woman to breach the 400 m hurdles 52 seconds in June 2021 and 51 seconds in July 2022 barriers by setting four world marks in 13 months. She took silver in the 2019 World Championships. She won gold in the women’s 4 x 400 m relay in each of the three competitions.

Her father, Willie McLaughlin, competed in the 400 m semifinals in the 1984 Olympic Trials. Mary, her mother, ran track in high school. She is a member of the class of 2017 at Union Catholic Regional High School in Scotch Plains and is a native of Dunellen, New Jersey. McLaughlin began running at a young age, following in the footsteps of his brother Taylor and older sister Morgan. Her brother won silver in the 400 m hurdles at the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships.

At the 2016 United States Olympic Trials, Sydney won her heat (55.46) and semi-final (55.23) in the 400-meter hurdles. She qualified for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro before the start of her senior year of high school by finishing third in the final in 54.15, setting new world youth and junior records. She was only 16 years old when she competed in Rio 2016 and finished 16th overall (failed to qualify for the final). McLaughlin won gold and set a new world record in the 400-meter hurdles Olympic final on August 3rd, 2021, in one of Tokyo’s most spectacular track contests to date. She set a new world record by finishing in 51.46 seconds, which was more than half a second faster than her previous best.

International Career

Sydney McLaughlin Levrone is the reigning Olympic champion in multiple disciplines. McLaughlin won gold in both the 400 m hurdles and the 4×400 m relay in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. On the other hand, McLaughlin has also been the recipient of multiple gold medals in the World Finals, one in the 2019 Doha and 2022 Eugene. Added to that, she won consecutive golds in the 400 m hurdles and 4×400 m relay which is the same discipline in which she won her Olympics gold. Moreover, she has also been world no 1 for 75 weeks in the 400 m hurdles. These exploits on the field have established Sydney as a dominant athlete from the USA.

Domestic Career

In her domestic career, Sydney McLaughlin has been a regular athlete in the USTAF and the NCAA competitions. At the national junior championships in 2014, McLaughlin placed a close second behind Shamier Little in the 400-meter hurdles. Her time of 55.63 s was a national high school freshman record and a world age-14 best.

She would have qualified to represent the United States at the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships. Furthermore, McLaughlin also set a world age group best of 13.34 s in the 100-meter hurdles over 76.2 cm (2 ft 6 in) hurdles that summer. In 2015, she improved her 400-meter hurdles best to 55.28 s at the national youth trials; the time was an age 15 world best and ranked second on the all-time world youth list behind Leslie Maxie’s world youth best (and national high school record) of 55.20 s set in 1984.
