What is Ryan Crouser’s net worth, salary and brand endorsements (2024)?

Ryan Crouser was born in Portland, Oregon on December 18, 1992, and grew up in Boring. His father, Mitch Crouser, was an alternate on the 1984 Olympic discus team, his uncle Brian Crouser qualified for two Olympic teams in the javelin, his other uncle Dean Crouser was a good shot putter and discus thrower, and his cousins Sam and Haley are both javelin throwers. He took up the event in fifth grade and made his breakthrough in eighth and ninth grades. Crouser set a national sophomore record with the 3.58 lb high school throw in 2009, his sophomore year at Sam Barlow High School in Gresham, Oregon, throwing 61.72 m.

Crouser qualified for the IAAF World Youth Championships in Bressanone, Italy in both the 5 kg shot and the 1.5 kg discus after winning both events at the 2009 national youth championships. Crouser’s 2010 season was cut short due to a foot injury. In 2011, after getting back in form, he set a new high school indoor record in the 5.44 kg shot put with a distance of 23.54 m. With this performance, he came in second on the all-time national high school list, just below Mike Carter’s outdoor record. He surpassed Mason Finley’s 2009 mark by one foot by setting a new national high school record in the discus with a throw of 72.40 meters outside. Crouser graduated from Barlow High School at the end of the 2011 season and attended the University of Texas.

Crouser is the reigning Olympic champion for the second time in a row. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he set an Olympic record in the shot put by winning the gold medal with a throw of 22.52 meters. He successfully defended that Olympic title at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, raising the bar by running a 23.30 m. It’s interesting to note that each of his six throws in the tournament set a new Olympic record, breaking the one he had set in 2016.

International Career

Ryan started his international career with the USA national team while he was in his master’s at the University of Texas. Crouser sparkled in his first attempt at the Olympics as he clinched the Gold medal in Rio. This was followed by victories in the Millrose Games and the 2020 USA Indoor Championships amidst a raging pandemic.

Crouser added on his Olympic exploits in Rio with another gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. However, he also set a new Olympic record in the shot put this time. Subsequently, Crouser went on to win the 2022 World Championships in Eugene. The following year, Crouser set a new world record and earned a new gold medal in Budapest. Ryan’s latest exploits have been at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championship where he put the shot 22.77 m. As Crouser prepares for a third Olympic gold, Paris can be a stepping stone to greatness for the American shot putter.

Domestic Career

Now, coming to his domestic career, Ryan started way back in his sophomore year (2009) in Oregon where he set a national record. Subsequently, he started his senior career in 2011. As a senior, Crouser also broke the national high school record in the discus by throwing 72.40 m to break Mason Finley’s record from 2009. Following this, Crouser competed for the University of Texas at Austin from 2012 to 2016, where he won four NCAA titles in the shot put. Since 2016, Crouser has been an integral part of the USA national team.
