European Games: Which nations have won the most medals?

The European Games are a huge multi-sport event including athletes from various European states in addition to a few transcontinental countries. The European Olympic Committees (EOC) are in charge of overseeing these competitions. On December 8, 2012, the 41st General Assembly of the EOC gathered in Rome to officially launch these games.

From June 12 to June 28, 2015, Azerbaijan’s Baku hosted the first edition of the European Games. Additionally, it was planned that this significant occasion would occur every four years. The following competition was held in Minsk, Belarus, from June 21 to June 30, 2019. Approximately 4000 participants from 50 different countries competed in 200 events across 15 sports during this iteration. Poland’s Kraków was declared as the host to the 2023 European Games. On June 22, 2019, the EOC General Assembly in Minsk had an official election that resulted in this decision being made.

The European Games 2023 will take place in Poland’s Kraków and Mapolska from June 21 to July 2, 2023. Different events of the European Games will be held in the city of Kraków, the neighboring Malopolska region, and Chorzów in the neighboring Silesia region. Additionally, the Games will grant spots for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, giving athletes one more motivation for performing at their highest level.

The European Olympic Committees (EOC) and the Polish Olympic Committee have jointly decided to prohibit athletes from Russia and Belarus from competing in agreement with the directives issued by Poland’s Ministry of Sport and Tourism and the Polish Olympic Committee.
