The event, run by the Stadium Clubs, a non-profit collective formed in 1944 comprising 13 athletics clubs from the Stockholm region, occupies the iconic Stockholm Olympic Stadium. The meet is globally recognized for its unique fusion of traditional athletics and a futuristic sports experience enhanced with music, sound effects, and cutting-edge technology.

The event has an impressive record of hosting 83 world record-setting performances up until 2021, the highest of any venue globally. Originally part of the IAAF Super Grand Prix events until 2010, the BAUHAUS-galan has since become a fixture in the Diamond League circuit as the Stockholm Diamond League.
