Athletics Stats: What are Sifan Hassan’s records in various events?

On April 23, 2023, the two-time Olympic and World Championships gold medalist, Sifan Hassan, added an incredible feat to her already long list of accomplishments. She achieved her first marathon title on her debut in the 42.195 km discipline at one of the World Marathon Majors, the London Marathon. On her way to gold, she got past one of the strongest women’s fields which consisted of the world record holder Brigid Kosgei, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics champion in marathon running, Peres Jepchirchir, and last year’s champion, Yalemzerf Yehualaw.

However, the victory was full of hurdles for the 30-year-old Sifan Hassan as she experienced pain in her hip flexor, had to stop twice during the race to stretch, and missed hydration bottles. But, the Dutch athlete didn’t let anything stop her from achieving her goal as she captured the London Marathon 2023 with a timing of 2:18:33, which was also a national record.
